How to play a DVD in Windows 7

1.) For playing a DVD, your computer must have a DVD drive which plays DVDs. Look for a narrow door or cover on the front of a desktop computer or tower. The DVD tray may be on either side or in front on a laptop. To open the tray, press a button on or near the DVD door. Open the tray and put a DVD label-side up in the tray, which may have a spindle into which the DVD snaps. After placing the DVD in tray, gently push the tray. Gently push it completely closed if the tray doesn’t close automatically.

3.) Now, to display the Media Player toolbar at the bottom of the screen, move the mouse. The following buttons are available when you play a DVD into Windows 7 Media Player:

• DVD: This button shows the DVD menu with options to play the DVD or access some special features, such as commentary.

• Loop: Click this button to turn on loop which means repeat. This option will continuously play all the tracks again after all have played.

• Stop: Click to stop the DVD.

• Previous: This button jumps to the previous chapter.

• Play/Pause: To pause the DVD in mid, click the button with two vertical lines. To resume playing from the point you paused, click the same button which is now with a triangle pointing to the right.

• Next: This button jumps to the next chapter.

• Mute/Unmute: To silence the player, click this button. Although the track will continue to play but you won’t hear it. A red circle and slash appear next to the speaker icon when mute is on. You need to click the button again to hear the track.

• Volume: To decrease or increase the volume, click or drag the slider to left or right respectively. Your speakers may also have manual volume control. Windows 7 also has a separate volume control in the taskbar.

• Exit Full-Screen Mode/View Full Screen: This option is located to the right of the toolbar, click this button to exit the full screen mode or to enter into full-screen mode. You can also press F11 for this mode.

To make the toolbar disappear in the full screen mode, you need to move the mouse away from the bottom of the screen.

5.) To take the DVD out from the computer, press the button on the computer that opens the disc tray or click the Go to Library button in the top-right corner and then right-click the DVD title in Media Player Library and then click Eject.
